Cinemas around London

Cineworld Cinema - London Leicester Square

5-6 Leicester Square, London WC2H 7NA, UK – 0330 333 4444

This venue is one of the best cinemas in London. Cineworld only took over the place in 2017 previously it was the Empire. They have unfortunately split the old grand screen used for premiers into two still large screens. Being a Cineworld means you can become a member and see as many movies as you want for just £20 a month.

The poolside common areas are great with chairs and umbrellas for free. Also the servers are ever present to provide whatever you like from their cafe menu. My wife is hard to cook for since she has to special order for low salt. The chef nailed it perfectly. That was memorable.

Backyard Cinema

42 Newington Causeway, London SE1 6DR, UK – 020 3773 9075

The seats were incredible uncomfortable and squashed together. Felt like I couldn't move at all or I'd be disturbing the people next to me, and I was an inch away from cuddling with them. The playback froze and skipped and felt blurry for a while after this. Someone guides you to your seat, which means you don't get to choose (good in one way as it means first come first serve, but didn't provide us with choice). It was an uncomfortable and overpriced experience. The food and drink pricing was not too bad, however. Did get in touch with customer service about this and they were kind enough to offer tickets to an alternative screening. UPDATE: After attending the Mission To Mars I have increased the number of stars - it was so entertaining and immersive! It was very exciting to be there. I do recommend the bean bags over the couch seats, which are more expensive but less comfortable. You can really tell they put a lot of time and thought into the experience and it was very worth it. I'd compare to it a Secret Cinema style experience for a fraction of the price. The staff were also very welcoming and nice.

Very quirky cinema experience with a great theme and comfortable beanbag seats. If you are expecting a good audio visual experience them temper expectations as this isn't the point of the cinema. Also don't be surprised if there is a head blocking your view.

Odeon Cinema London Tottenham Court

30 Tottenham Court Rd, Bloomsbury, London W1T 1BX, UK – 0333 014 4501

It's an odd one. Quite hidden away, with only a few screens. It has some really nice and helpful staff. They have a bubble tea bar, ice-cream, beer and popcorn.

lovely cinema. The problem was the ladies toilets. NOT ENOUGH OF THEM. Furthermore the hooks on the doors are poorly designed. My bags and coats kept falling off because there isn't a hook on the end to prevent things sliding off. REALLY FRIENDLY STAFF.

Theatres for London

Delfont Mackintosh Theatres

5 Aldwych, London WC2B 4LD, UK – 0844 482 5138

Always brilliant to deal with, I have exchanged tickets no problem more than once. Really nice company to deal with and great productions. Infinitely better than the awful Ticketmaster.

Great theatre, great stuff! Too bad my daughter and I could not fully enjoy the show (Mamma Mia) for some rude and abnoxious girls behinds us who talked the whole time. There were many announcements about cell phones and photos, perhaps something should be mentioned about staying quite as well, although those ignorant girls would have probably ignored it anyway.

Fortune Theatre Box Office

Russell St, London WC2B 5HH, UK – 0844 871 7626

Great show

Barbican Centre

Silk St, London EC2Y 8DS, UK – 020 7638 4141

Top notch performances, beautiful venue with wooden interior and great acoustics. Trailing plants and water features around the grounds are also beautiful.

You can find some great shows here. Very down-to-earth and affordable. If you have fear of heights be careful with the upper-circle and gallery seats in the theatre.
